Cochabamba
Cochabamba comes from the Quechua qhucha = lake, pampa = plain. It has an
important geographical location as it is in the center of the country, is the only state that has no international border.
Bordered on the north by the department of Beni, on the south by Chuquisaca and Potosi, Santa Cruz
on the east and on west with La Paz and Oruro.
Its capital, the city of Cochabamba, is at an altitude of 2558 meters, so its climate
is mild and pleasant. A geographical area of interest is the Chapare, because it is
considered one of the five highest rainfall in the world. This allows it to have moisture
impenetrable forests and the farming of various tropical products, such as the coca leaf.

Cochabamba has a population of 1,455,711 inhabitants and an area of 55,631 km2. It is
known in Bolivia as the "breadbasket" of the country for its variety of agricultural
products taking advantage of its geographical position. For its range of altitudes and
climates, agricultural production is very broad and diverse.
Tourist Attractions:
Near the capital you can find various tourist attractions as: Quillacollo, Urkupiña,
Sacaba, Punata, Cliza, Tarata, Tiraque, beautiful valleys where nature offers variety of
flowers and plants.
As indicated above, another Cochabamba`s attractions is Chapare, a region bathed by
rivers and exotic woods of unparalleled beauty. There is a good hotel infrastructure, and can be reached relatively easily
by paved road.
They are also important Tunari National Park, with peaks over 5,000 meters, the Isiboro-
Secure Park, of impressive biodiversity and Inkachaka area with subtropical climate,
beautiful waterfalls and rivers where you can practice sport fishing.
It is also noteworthy Cochabamba cuisine, serving dishes like chicharron, the pique
macho, the sillp'anchu and others.
